The fad among celebrities is to celebrate their birthdays with inmates at various orphanages and charity homes while sending these less privileged ones food and gift items.
Actor Benson Okonkwo joined his colleagues in doing same as he went to an orphanage in Awka, Anambra State to mark his birthday last week.
But his humanitarian gesture was greeted with so much condemnation as Benson was lambasted for going to the orphanage with just ‘a carton of Indomie noodles.’
So many people felt the actor was seeking unnecessary attention and shouldn’t have bothered making the visit public if he could only go with such a few gift items.
Reacting to the allegation, Benson told Saturday Beats that he didn’t go with one carton but rather with ‘many cartons.’
“I went with bags of rice, five cartons of noodles and other food items. I don’t even feel bad about what people say,” he said
