Harry got a bomb threat
Harry Maguire’s house was checked by police on Thursday after the Manchester United captain received a bomb threat.
England defender Maguire, who lives with his fiancée and two children, has endured a difficult season with club and country, but it is not known who made the threat.
The 29-year-old’s home was swept by Cheshire Constabulary to ensure his safety.
“In the last 24 hours, Harry has received a serious threat to his family home,” a spokesman for Maguire said.
“He has reported this to the police who are now looking into the matter.
“The safety of his family and those around him is obviously Harry’s number one priority.
“He will continue to prepare for this weekend’s fixture as normal and we will not be commenting in any further detail at this time.”
The bomb scare is the latest issue for Maguire, who has been subjected to stinging criticism from pundits and jeers from England fans this season.
Maguire was part of the United team thrashed 4-0 at arch rivals Liverpool on Tuesday.
He is next due to play when United travel to Arsenal on Saturday for a crucial Premier League clash in the race to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
United, who have slipped to sixth in the Premier League, on Thursday announced the appointment of Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag as their new manager from next season.

Lasisi reveals why he left music for comedy skits
Nigerian skit maker Lasisi Elenu has disclosed he was pursuing a career in music alongside skit making at the inception of his comedy career.
Lasisi, christened Nosa Afolabi, said he saw social media as an avenue for him to express himself rather than make money. He started that he saw the internet as a platform to become famous, and he tapped into it.
While making music, Lasisi revealed he saw comedy skit making as another way of being famous in Nigeria, which eventually worked for him.
Since had already achieved what he wanted with music in skit making, he added that he discontinued music as a profession to focus on creating comedy skit contents in the entertainment industry.
In his recent chat with Punch, Lasisi said; “Growth has happened over the years. There was a time when we looked up to radio and television.”
“Then, social media became the in-thing. Social media has been in existence since the early 2010s but it became more prominent later on. That was how I saw an avenue to express myself.”
“The primary objective when I started was not actually to make money. I just saw it as an opportunity for me to be out there (in the public glare). It felt good but I was pursuing a career in music alongside and it was a struggle.”
“I felt the best way to become famous, aside from my music, was to create skits. I tried and it paid off eventually. I became popular and I no longer saw the need to pursue a career in music. Hence, I decided to continue creating content and be in the entertainment space.”
Being one of the most prominent online skit makers in Nigeria, Lasisi revealed he would explore from TV shows to comedy, movies, and production to stay relevant.

Twitter said to be close to a deal with Elon Musk
As unlikely as it may have once seemed, reports indicate Elon Musk may actually end up the owner of a newly-private Twitter after all. Both The Washington Post and The New York Times are reporting that Twitter’s board is seriously considering Musk’s offer to buy the company, with the corporate governing body’s attitude towards the offer changing following Musk’s outlining of his plan to source the funds to make real his $46.5 billion offer to buy the company.
Twitter’s board met on Sunday to discuss Musk’s offer, and the NYT reports that they then entered into negotiations with Musk early on Monday morning to hammer out additional details including the timeline for close and what, if any, financial protections Twitter would enjoy were any potential deal to go south post-announcement.
Both reports stress that the deal is not yet final and could still fall apart, but given where we started it’s kind of amazing that it’s even gotten this far. Musk’s bid was initially seen by critics as undervaluing the company significantly despite it representing a premium on the current, depressed Twitter stock price, and the board even instituted a ‘poison pill’ policy to try to block Musk from acquiring a much more significant ownership position in the company.
If you need to catch up on all the wild twists in this story so far, check out our recap. It sounds like either way, we’ll have another instalment to share at some point today.

If you steal from public purse you cant be the presidents friend
The Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has said that President Buhari hates stealing with passion and that a confirmed thief can never be President Buhari's friend no matter who the person is.
Adesina said this in an article he posted on his Facebook page. In the piece, Adesina emphasized why the President demanded a forensic investigation into the financial activities at the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC.
''There’s one thing President Muhammadu Buhari hates with a passion. Grand larceny. Expropriation and purloining. Once it’s confirmed that you are filching from the public purse, you can never be his friend, no matter who you are. So he had to bring to a halt the gravy train that the NDDC had become over the years. And no stampede, no rout or panic. The house cleaning must be done, and done well. Thorough.
In the Niger Delta, you see plenty signboards, but little or no projects. In other words, people collect contracts, erect signboards announcing the project, but the job never gets done. And the contractors get paid.
What to do? A forensic audit was necessary. Some powerful forces mounted robust resistance, but they didn’t reckon with the iron will of the President. The audit was done, and report submitted.''
Adesina said he hopes that in 2023, Nigerians will elect a Leader that will move the country forward.
''As 2023 approaches, I pray that Nigerians would consolidate on honest leadership by electing somebody who can move us forward in probity and accountability. Buhari has shown us the way, may we never veer off the path again. Amen.
There has been strident clamor for a composition of the Board of the NDDC. It is inexorable that it would come, but it should never be the business as usual we experienced in the past. Honest service to the people must be the watchword. That is what President Buhari has in mind, and that is what we should get. Order is better than speed, and we will get there.'' he said
