Ice Prince Wins ‘Best African Act’ At 2013 BET Awards [@Iceprincezamani]

Rapper Ice Prince beat 2face Idibia, Toya Delazy from South Africa, Donald from South Africa,  R2Bees from Ghana and Radio and Weasel from Uganda to win the 2013 Best African Act at the BET Awards. Big congrats to him.

I'm No Longer Exposing My Breasts - Mercy Johnson

Beautiful and talented actress, mercy Johnson in a recent interview talks about her career, motherhood and her future plans.
You were at OJB’s house to see him and donate money, now you are here to donate to the Boys Reform Home in Lagos. What’s the idea?
No idea, we are just promoting the ideals of Mercy Johnson Foundation. The idea is to identify the needs, evaluate and help in our own little way. All fingers are not equal; those in position to help should do so without hesitation. You will be hearing a lot about Mercy Johnson Foundation from now on. We have put our house in order and now ready to help those we can.
I strongly believe that as stars we should live beyond the euphoria of stardom and the moment. We will not always be here, what happens if you look back and realise you could do a lot to make the world better when you had the spotlight and you didn’t? I want to live beyond the moment.

Why the reform homes in Lagos?
I know I’m not glamorous to a lot of people, but we must know that if we do charitable things for publicity alone, we defeat the purpose. We need to find ways to reform young boys and girls otherwise they will make life uncomfortable for the children of the privileged. At this point, I must commend the government of Lagos State for making efforts at reforming the kids. We are looking at what we can do with the state to help make the future of these children better.

Motherhood seems to have changed you…

Yes, motherhood changes women. You begin to see yourself as a co-creator. You begin to see yourself as a protector. Few days ago, I was feeding Purity and she started dragging the bottle with me with the hot water in it. She pushed the bottle, I had to quickly push her away from the water and let it pour on my arm instead. That’s the kind of protection I am talking about. I think it will also make you feel more responsible for other children as well. You begin to see them as children of some other mothers. You have a sense of responsibility to want to protect them as well.

How are you coping with your husband and the baby?

There’s nothing like coping, he’s making my job easier. He dots on her. He carries her, feeds and does everything for her such that she misses him when he’s not around.  You won’t believe she sleeps on his chest every night. He understands whatever adjustment I need to make when it comes to the baby. He’s a loving father?

What about being a loving husband?

He’s the best thing that happened to me. People usually say men are not reliable, in the case of my husband he’s a blessing. It’s obvious we are his priority.

So, your step of faith is paying off?
Yes. I am not saying its perfect, but this is close to perfection. If this is what it feels to be married, I want to marry my husband again and again.

How come you took a break and still returned as number one in Nollywood?
There’s nothing like number one in Nollywood.  We are all doing our jobs; it’s just that some people are busier than others. I’m glad of what God has given me.

What should we expect from you career-wise?
I’m trying to be more selective with what I do. If the script is not good, I don’t want to do it. Our market is getting core aware and advanced as the day goes by.

How come you are not an ambassador of any brand yet?

We are having discussion with a couple of brands, when we agree with the terms, you will hear from us. However, I need to quickly point out that Mercy Johnson is a blend of youth and family brand. We just can’t stand and represent any brand.
If it’s not representing the youths, which is our major consistency or the family, we will not be favourably disposed to it. I can’t at this point be ‘hawking’ cleavages in the name of promoting brand.  Things have changed; this is the beginning of a new era for me.

Yvonne Nelson's Cousin Claims Iyanya Has A Tattoo Of Her Initials On His Wrists

Many of us were taken aback when Yvonne Nelson openly declared she was in love with Iyanya and he broke her heart. Any we were equally shocked  by Iyanya's playful response during a recorded "Ur Waist" rmx at Tim Westwood's show in London.
He said
"Yvonne Nelson, I lost your medicine. She called that she's coming over and I ride her like a jangolova. All I want is your waist, no emotions, no tears, no letters, no love, no nothing. All I want is your waist, she ain't even know it. She brought emotions.

Well, some one is more angry than most of us and that's Yvonne Nelson's cousin Jason.. Hour claims Iyanya has a tattoo of Yvonne's initials on his wrist . . See what he said about Iyanya after the cut....

Why's Iyanya saying No emotions, No tears, but he has Yvonne Nelson's name ink'd on his skin? SILLY!!

Be gentle with words. Don't say something you can never take back because sometimes a scar lasts longer than a single sorry.

Nelson Mandela’s Gravesite Is Being Prepared Even Before His Death

Qunu, Eastern Cape - The gravesite at Nelson Mandela’s homestead in Qunu in the Eastern Cape, where the icon who is in a critical condition in hospital is expected to be buried, is being prepared to accommodate “thousands and thousands of people”.

That’s according to the construction supervisor at the site, Eric Bosman, representing Durbanville construction firm Haw & Inglis, who yesterday gave The Sunday Independent’s sister paper Weekend Argus some insight into the work being done there.
Speaking at the site, he confirmed it was being prepared for Madiba’s burial.

Twenty construction vehicles, including 10 trucks and various bulldozers, were working there non-stop yesterday. Bosman said they were creating the first temporary road to the site, built off the N2 highway and leading to the gravesite, which was expected to be completed by the end of the day.

“We started it (temporary road) two weeks ago and we’re finishing it today. It’s in preparation for the burial. This will allow mourners to drive to the site with ease. There will be space for everybody,” said Bosman.

The gravesite is situated on a high hill, the closest one to Madiba’s large peach-coloured homestead, which is adjacent to the N2 highway in Qunu.

Bosman said the site could accommodate an enormous number of people, since there were vast open fields around Mandela’s homestead. He said a section of the temporary road would be used by buses, while another section would be utilised by taxis and bakkies.

“He will be buried here,” he said, pointing to crop of aloes just below the top of the hill.

“The minibuses will come out there. And that one is for the buses,” he gesticulated as he pointed to the areas to be designated as drop-off zones for what is expected to be one of the biggest funerals to be seen in South Africa.

Bosman also pointed to a section far below the gravesite, and closer to Mandela’s homestead, where he said a “big tent” would be erected.

Two weeks ago Weekend Argus reported there was division over where Madiba should be buried – some felt he should not be buried at his homestead, but rather at the Mandela family burial site, situated on the opposite side of the N2 highway from Mandela’s homestead.

However, Bosman was adamant yesterday Mandela would be buried at his homestead.

Meanwhile, the area is wall-to-wall with journalists, photographers and camera people, who have flocked to the area as Mandela lies critical in hospital.

A few weeks ago only two or three media organisations were in Qunu, but that number has jumped to about 20 in the past week.

Most were firmly entrenched outside the Mandela homestead on Thursday and Friday, although there was very little action to see.

Everyone rushed to Mthatha, about 35km away, on Friday when news of the family feud over the burials of three of Mandela’s children broke.

The court action has pitted 16 members of the Mandela family against Mandela’s grandson Mandla Mandela, who is alleged to have moved the remains to Mvezo, where he is chief. Neither Mandla or other members of the family were at the Mthatha High Court however, so for the news teams, it was literally back to the drawing board

GOBE: Akpabio Fires Stewards Over N40million Missing At Governor’s Lodge

Akpabio GOBE: Akpabio Fires Stewards Over N40million Missing At Governors Lodge
Three stewards working in the Akwa Ibom state governor’s lodge in Asokoro, Abuja was on Friday summarily dismissed by the governor, Godswill Akpabio, over missing bundles of mint fresh dollars valued at over $250,000 (N40 million) kept in the governor’s bedroom.
The governor who reportedly issued the
instruction to dispense with the services of the political appointees personally found out on Wednesday during his visit to Abuja that four bundles of the foreign currency he left in his bedroom had been stolen while he was gone to a dinner with president Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock Villa.
Saharareporters gathered that the bundles
dollars kept in the drawers in the governor’s
bedroom were the leftovers from a trough of hard currency stashed away in a private security safe.
The governor reportedly expressed surprise that despite the near impregnable security in the lodge, coupled with the fact that the locks to that section of the lodge, including the governor’s bedroom, are routinely changed each time such heavy cash is brought in, the money could still disappear in the manner it did.
Though it could not be established firmly if the three steward were responsible for the missing cash, it was gathered that they may have been given the boot for apparent negligence in allowing the real culprits to gain access to the otherwise restricted area of the lodge.
A source close to the lodge said more heads might roll as investigations are ongoing to find out the identities of the other culprits involved in the theft of Mr. Akpabio’s cash haul.
According to the source, who pleaded anonymity, for fear of being victimized, accusing fingers are being pointed at Maria Ekpekong another staff member at the lodge who is the governor’s senior special representative in charge of the overall management of the lodge.
It was gathered that pilfering of huge cash in the lodge has become a recurring event. A few years ago, the governor removed all the civil servants deployed to work at the lodge and replaced them with political appointees and other private consultants he thought could be trusted.
In one instance, it was learnt that after bundles of cash disappeared under similar circumstances, the burglary proof and window protectors around the governor’s
apartment were changed sometime last year after the perpetrators broke through the ceiling to gain access to the room where cash was stacked in ‘Ghana must go’ bags.
Governor Akpabio frequently doles out state cash to buy political patronage and favors from various sectors of the Nigerian society.
Governor Akpabio is reckless with state funds, sometimes paying huge sums of money to buy himself awards both at home and abroad.{SaharaReporters}
